10 Unexpected Reasons I Love My Sphynx Cat
I’ve always seen myself as a dog person… and then I adopted a Sphynx cat. I really had no idea what I was getting myself into. I had only seen a hairless cat once and had never even touched one. Even though I did some reading before bringing her home, and asked a ton of questions, there were still things about her that surprised me.
1. People who have never met a Sphynx tend to have a negative opinion of these naked cats, or even straight-up say, “Ew!”. What I love about this is that when they actually meet her their opinion will usually change. How can you say, “Ew!” to this face?
2. My Sphynx cat tolerates wearing clothes. It might just be because she’s cold, but either way it’s adorable.
3. This girl has confidence. She might tolerate clothes but she seems to prefer to run, jump, and play completely in the nude. There’s no shame in her game!
4. She doesn’t mind bath time! I was completely surprised by this. When I decided to adopt this hairless cat I knew she came along with a lot more maintenance than her furry counterparts. I was thrilled to find out that the weekly bath wouldn’t be a struggle.
5. This Sphynx cat is extremely curious. Maybe I wasn’t expecting that because she is my first cat but she is always wondering what’s going on.
6. She is the most affectionate cat I have ever met. This might go back to the fact that she’s cold but I’d like to think she just likes me…
7. She looks extremely evil but I really don’t think she is plotting to take over the world. Ok, I’m not 100% sure about that one but let’s just refer back to #6.
8. She feels like an extremely warm fuzzy peach. She’s like a little purring oven.
9. If she isn’t sleeping, she’s talking. I wasn’t expecting the variety of sounds she makes.
10. She’s oddly organized. This crazy Sphynx uses one of her liter boxes for #1 and the other for #2 pretty much exclusively. Does anyone else have a cat that does this?
